This is how I made the cap however you can tweak it to make it larger or smaller. Keep in mind your results may differ.

Hook: Size J/10 – 6.00MM Crochet Hook

Yarn: Bernat Cotton Candy Collection 100% Cotton (yarn might be discontinued)

Size: Adult Ladies Cap

MC – Magic Circle or you can chain 4 and sl st in the first chain to create a circle.

Switch colors through your first dc and last dc in each round. I began to change colors on round 4. A video tutorial of this technique can be found at http://youtu.be/NEgwIFZ6408 by the Crochet Geek. Note… do not follow the pattern on the video tutorial, instead watch the technique for switching colors.

Row 1: Chain 3, 9 dc into the ring. Slip stitch to join. (10 stitches)

Row 2: Chain 3, 1 dc in same sp, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join. (20 stitches)

Row 3: Chain 3, 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to join. (30 stitches) (change color, see above explaination)

Row 4: Chain 3, 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. sl st to join. (40 stitches)

Row 5: Chain 3, 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. sl st to join. (50 stitches)

Row 6: Chain 3, 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to join. (60 stitches)

Row 7-14: Chain 3, 1 dc in each st around, sl st to join.

Edge: SC in each st around, sl st to join, cut & tie off.

Using a yarn needle sew in the tail.
